This song has been in development for a few years . Many different versions, arrangements and "bridges" were written then discarded, "A" parts written and discarded for new ones. Song was finally finished in January/ February of 2020 when Gibbs had a couple days to himself in his Western Catskills studios "Screaming Eagle Ranch"and re-recorded the entire song from scratch after working on a different version that was slated for possible inclusion for "Castle Rock" on Hulu. He later brought the song to Grand Street Recording and had Ken Rich mix it and help extract some files from previous versions. Not happy with the programmed drums , Gibbs brought in longtime stickman Tim Kuhl ( Sean Lennon, Margaret Glaspy) to flesh out the drums. When Covid hit the streets of NYC , Eastern Spurs decided to release it sooner than later because of the nature of the lyrics having a somewhat eerie forecast on what would become of the city in the months to follow.
lyrics
Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready for my Armageddon?
Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready for my Armageddon
My my, smile I may
I'm slippin' out of those chains
Hell hole, hell hole
Ain't goin' to the hole no more
Just like Serpico
Didn't always do what he were told
Sometimes you gotta go against the grain
and lay in wait
My my, smile I may
I'm slippin' out of those chains
Hell hole, hell hole
Ain't going to the hole no more
Bones brittle feelin' ill at ease
Sky feels cut off at the knees
Buildings blocking all the breeze
Gotta move to make
My my, smile I may
I'm slippin out of those chains
Hell hole, hell hole
Ain't goin' to the hole no more
Fade to blue
midnight sky
Give me a mountain of the high life
The tug and pull
you can't ignore
You gotta listen when you heart roars
Turn the key
windows down
Always feels better on the outbound
Getting out
of the cage
I gotta soul to save
Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready for my Armageddon?
Are you ready
Are you ready
Are you ready for my Armageddon
My my, smile I may
I'm slippin out of those chains
Hell hole, hell hole
Ain't goin' to the hole no more
My my, smile I may
I'm getting out of that cage
hell hole hell hole
I'll go when my number is called
